We are thrilled to offer you a chance at this opportunity. There are 3 spots for Blue Door Artist Members to make use of part of the studio space at the David Rockefeller Creative Arts Center (DR Center) located at 200 Lake Rd, Tarrytown, NY 10591, as part of our Community Arts Residency.
Each of the 3 artists will have 2 months to use the art studio space at the DR Center, either September/October 2023, November/December 2023 or January/February 2024. Each artist will be awarded $1,500.00 to cover supplies and transportation costs. This space is not intended for sleeping or overnight stays. The studio space will be available all week from 8am - 10pm. (dates and times subject to change).
During the artist-in-residency, for each artist, there will be an open studio day, where the public will be invited to visit you, observe you work and ask questions about your work. Blue Door Art Center will bring groups of children, teens and adults up to the studio to do workshops during your residency, primarily on Saturdays, but we will only be using the studio for few hours each time. The studio is large enough to have a working space for the artist in residence and to accommodate workshops.
You will be expected to complete a piece of art that will be displayed at the Blue Door Art Center in the Spring of 2024. The applications will be reviewed by our committee, and they will interview the finalists before making a determination. There is no cost to apply and you must be a Blue Door Artist Member in good standing and be over 21 years of age. Our committee looks forward to reviewing your application. See terms and conditions for further info.
