Blue Door Artist-in-Residence at the DR Center

  • The artist must be over 21 years of age.
  • The artist must be a Blue Door Artist Member in good standing.
  • The residency will be for two months (Sept./Oct. 2023, Nov./Dec. 2023 or Jan./Feb. 2024) and the artist will be responsible for moving their supplies in and out of the DR Center studio space and leaving the space in good condition.
  • The artist will retain ownership of any and all artwork they produce during the residency at the David Rockefeller Creative Arts Center(DR Center) located at 200 Lake Rd., Tarrytown NY 10501, but will exhibit the completed work at the Blue Door Art Center, at 13 Riverdale Ave, Yonkers, NY 10701 in Spring 2024.
  • A $1,500.00 stipend with be awarded to each of the 3 artists chosen, for supplies and transportation. Any costs beyond this are the responsibility of the artist.
  • The studio is a working space, and will be available 7 days a week, between the hours of 8am - 10pm, (the schedule may change due to holidays or special event) No overnight stays allowed.
  • The artist will notify security at the DR Center two weeks in advance of their scheduled visits.
  • The artist will share the studio space when Blue Door Art Center conducts meeting or workshops during the residency.
  • The artist will post social media at least once a week during the residency tagging Blue Door Art Center on the topic of their residency.
  • Any photos or video taken during the residency may be used for publicity purposes by Blue Door Art Center and DR Center.
  • The artist will have a "Open Studio" day during their residency, when the public will be invited to meet them and see their work.
  • The artist will be conduct themselves professionally as they are representing Blue Door Art Center. No controlled substances, alcohol or smoking on the premises of the DR Center.
  • The artist may not participate in another artist-in-residency at another location during their two month period of residency.
  • Any additional rules or conditions of the DR Center apply.
